Today, World No Tobacco Day has been very successfully observed in various places of Assam. IMA Guwahati Branch has organised a walkathon with President and the Secretary at the forefront. IMA North Lakhimpur Branch has organised a walkathon with posters of 'We need food not tobacco' and 'World No Tobacco Day'. IMA NLB also organised awareness meetings, bator nat and quiz competitions along with Lakhimpur Cancer control unit in the presence of local administration. IMA Dispur Branch organised an awareness program at Sudarshan School where the President of Dispur branch addressed the students. IMA Tinsukia Branch organised awareness programs in three different schools in Tinsukia, Baraguri High School, Senairam School, and Durgabari Sishu Vidyalay. IMA Nagaon Branch organised an awareness program at Ramanujan Junior College where senior members like Dr Brajen Bora, Dr Naba Das, Dr Haren Baruah, Dr P Bora and Dr Ranjan Goswami participated. IMA Hojai Branch , in association with District Tobacco Control Cell, organised various programs like art competition, awareness meetings, quiz competition, video show and a rally. IMA Margherita organised in a different way by inaugurating the schools wall magazine, lectures by school children on the topic, short skits performed by school children all based on the principle 'catch them young'. Latuk model hospital also celebrated WNTD under IMA Banner. IMA Tezpur Branch organised awareness meetings and live interactive sessions among school students under the guidance of president Elect. At Tezpur resource persons were Dr Hemendra Kumar Borah, Dr Lakhyeswar Bhuyan, and Dr Pradip Kumar Sarma.

Along with the above, IMA Assam State Branch and RODALI - a Centre for Cancer Awareness and Counselling in collaboration with the Capacity Building Centre and Department of Statistics of Cotton University organised 'World No Tobacco Day Program' on the 31st of May at the Cotton University. The resource persons were renown ENT Specialist Dr Gautam Khaund and Dr Satirtha Barman from BBCI gave awareness lectures to the students.

At present there are 42 active branches under Assam State Branch with more than 3000 active members.
In fact, IMA ASB is the organization of qualified medical professionals of Assam with highest number of members.
